Your role
We are looking for lifestyle assistants to join our team at Marine Views Cottesloe on a part time basis.
- Undertake lifestyle activities and therapeutic interventions in partnership with residents and representatives, and in line with resident needs, care plans, duty statements, professional guidelines and organisational process.
- Contribute to activity and therapy planning.
- Act as a primary advocate for the resident and their representatives and ensure the dignity, privacy and freedoms of residents are upheld in line with the Charter of Aged Care Rights.
- Ensure activities are focused towards function ability and independence.
- Liaise with therapists, nurses and carers to ensure holistic, comprehensive delivery of care.
- Assist residents with ADL’s as required, providing both person-centred therapeutic interventions and practical supports in, order to promote independence and autonomy wherever possible.
- Assist residents in the dining experience including hands on assistance with meals.
- Document and report care interventions, observations, changes in needs and resident feedback in an accurate, objective and efficient manner.
- Ensure a clean, pleasant and welcoming physical environment.
You will need
- Energy, enthusiasm and innovation
- Demonstrated aptitude to help improve the lives of older people.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
- Reliable and positive work ethic.
- National Police Clearance (current to within 12 months).
- Experience working in aged care, community services or disability services, ideally in a care, therapy or activity role.
- Certificate IV in aged care, community services, allied health (or equivalent).
- Well-developed verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience working in a client focused culture that values continuous improvement.
